I went to see an ancient place..

Image
"I went to see an ancient place.." I went with my friend to visit an ancient temple in our area. I went to get information for a friend's university assignment. It is the ancient Nagadeepa Rajamaha Viharaya in the Mahiyangana area. Our visit we came to know that this place of archaeological value has not been properly studied by archaeologists. Many believe that the Buddha's second visit to Ceylon was to the Nainativu area of Jaffna. However, there is evidence that the second visit of the Buddha to Ceylon took place in this sacred place, according to the legends associated with this religious shrine in the Mahiyangana area. H ere we found two ancient dagobas of archeological value and a carved moon lamp and an inscription which are believed to belong to the pre-Anuradhapura era. So I believe there are other places with such ancient values.  They must be preserved without losing their antiquity ✍️✍️ . .Sandamali
