Ramazan

   Ramazan …

Ramazan is the month during which the Holy Quran was revealed. Ramazan the ninth month of the Islamic calendar is observed as a month of fasting.

Fasting must be observed by every adult Muslim, except the infirm, Pregnant women and women who nurse babies. Travellers are also exempted from fasting.

The prophet Mohammed said that fasting is an armour with which one protects oneself. The fight against the physical tendency to satisfy hunger helps the Muslim to achieve control over his inner soul. This enables him to overcome his worldly desires and give priority to spirituality over material pursuit.

Fasting contains innumerable social and health advantages. It teachers equality which is not witnessed even in prayer. Thus fasting places all men, rich or poor, on the same pitiful plight of hunger. It does not permit any body to take food and drink or to have sexual relations in day time.
